Tira Tūhāhā Prison Chaplaincy Aotearoa New Zealand (TTPCA)
Being the hope that transforms lives
Tira Tūhāhā Prison Chaplaincy Aotearoa provides religious and spiritual support services to all New Zealand prisons under contract to the Department of Corrections. TTPCA is also contracted by Serco New Zealand to provide chaplaincy services to Auckland South Corrections Facility.
Our Role
We aim to offer every prisoner life-transforming hope through the love of God.
Our chaplains see prison chaplaincy as a ‘holistic ministry’ providing for the spiritual, cultural and social needs of all prisoners. Prison chaplains, therefore, have a mission in service to the whole of life; with a theological mandate. A prison chaplain’s role is to journey with prisoners, as they encounter the challenges of incarceration and separation from loved ones and whānau.’
VOLUNTEERING
TTPCA relies on faith-based volunteers to come into prisons to help deliver group worship, group study and individual pastoral care to prisoners every week. The volunteers are managed by our professional chaplains at each prison site.
Support Us
Every regular donation, no matter how big or small, ensures we can continue to visit and support those in prison.
