Northland Region Corrections Facility (Ngawha) – Catholic Prison Chaplaincy
The Catholic Diocese of Auckland is seeking to employ a suitably qualified person to work as a member of the Tira Tūhāhā Prison Chaplaincy Aotearoa Chaplaincy Team, which delivers Ecumenical Chaplaincy services to men in prison at the Northland Region Corrections Facility in Ngawha. The position is a permanent part-time position of 20 hours per week – days to be determined but with the expectation of some Sundays per month for Sunday Services.
The Catholic Prison Chaplaincy service is a separate but integrated ministry which promotes and shares the Gospel message, provides for the celebration of the Sacraments, and provides pastoral care, counsel and support.
The role requires a special combination of experience, skill, formation and personal qualities. Applicants will come from a committed Catholic ministry background, should demonstrate a personal faith commitment, relevant pastoral formation and experience, a high level of personal maturity and judgement, a resilient personality and success in working in teams. Training and support are available for the right candidate.
Applicants should note that the successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment screening required by the Diocese and the Department of Corrections.
