He Kākahu Tiaparani / Chaplain Branded Clothing
An exciting recent development for the chaplaincy teams at all prison sites has been the rollout of a branded clothing range for chaplains. This has been a project that Richard Ward, our Regional Manager for the Auckland Region has overseen over the last two years. The process has taken longer than expected due to COVID and a name and logo change over that time, however, we are now at the point where all our tiaparani (chaplains) are wearing these kākahu (clothing) every day on site.
The new look for chaplains has generated a lot of interest and enthusiasm and is a wonderful identity marker, helping to create a distinct and visible identity for Chaplaincy. This makes it easier for people and other staff at each prison to identify and easily connect with chaplains.
The branded clothing has also created a sense of unity amongst chaplains and is part of our commitment to professionalism - one of our core values, Tū Rangatira / Professionalism.
A big thank you to Richard for his leadership in this space over the last two years. It is wonderful to see how this branded clothing has enhanced our ability to live out our values and better serve the men and women in prisons.
